Jawahar Public School
Jawahar Public School, situated in a serene rural set up of Edava near the palm–fringed Varkala beach is owned and managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) of the St. Joseph’s Province, Thiruvananthapuram. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation, was one of the pioneers of education in Kerala in the 19th Century and he promoted education for all, without any distinction of caste, creed or religion. Following the footsteps of their Founder, the CMI Congregation now runs hundreds of educational institutions all over India. The school obtained affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education upto Secondary level in June 1997 and Senior Secondary affiliation for Science and Commerce streams in June 2001.
