Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu started functioning in 1973 under Indian Co-operation Mission (ICM). The land was provided by the Embassy of India and the building was constructed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The ICM was closed in 1980 and the management of the Vidyalaya was taken over by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu. His Excellency, Ambassador of India to Nepal is the patron and the Deputy Chief of Mission is the Chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee.
